GDAL and Oracle Spatial GeoRaster

Published by admin at 10:56 am under GDAL

We at GSI are proud to announce the release of the GDAL driver for Oracle Spatial GeoRaster. It opens several possibilities, first it means that Oracle Spatial users would be able to load image from several formats supported by GDAL. That also means that they can export to those format, if they need to. But GDAL is not just about data format translation. There is also a growing number of others GDAL command line tools and it also contains a SDK like API that is accessible through several programming languages and operational systems. GDAL is in use in several software projects that could potentially access GeoRaster and execute Map Algebra and Image Processing directly over it. Web mapping software environment that uses GDAL are also able to access GeoRaster objects directly Oracle database servers.
